About Boroondara
At the City of Boroondara, our people are proud to serve one of Melbourne’s most vibrant and leafy municipalities. With a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, exceptional open spaces, and an inclusive, community-first approach, we’re focused on creating a healthy and liveable city for everyone. Our Parks and Open Spaces are a key part of what makes Boroondara a great place to live, work, and play – and we need dedicated team members to help us keep them at their best.
The Role
We’re looking for a Turf Maintenance Officer (x2) to join our Environmental Sustainability and Open Spaces team. This role is responsible for the day-to-day care and maintenance of Boroondara’s 54 sportsgrounds. You’ll be based at the Freeway Golf Course Depot but will work across a range of sites to support the delivery of high-quality turf services for our community.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll carry out a wide variety of turf maintenance tasks including mowing, herbicide and fertiliser application, irrigation repair, safety audits, and contributing to reconstruction works. You'll also support seasonal renovations, undertake tractor operations, and assist with wicket preparation where required. Your daily work will help ensure that our sportsgrounds are safe, attractive, and ready for use by local clubs and residents alike.
You’ll be part of a passionate and skilled turf management team, working collaboratively and rotating across sites as needed. You'll participate in toolbox meetings, report hazards, and contribute to a strong safety-first culture. Accurate recordkeeping and a commitment to completing tasks on time and to a high standard are essential.
About you
We’re looking for someone who holds a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management, with demonstrated hands-on experience in the maintenance of sportsgrounds or similar turf surfaces. You’ll have a sound understanding of turf health, irrigation systems, and the safe use of turf-related machinery and chemicals. A current driver’s licence is required, and experience in wicket curation or working within local government would be a bonus.
If you would like more information regarding this opportunity, please refer to our position description.
