About the role

We are seeking a Casual/Full-Time Qualified Butcher to join our team at our Henley Beach, SA 5022 location. This is a full-time position offering the flexibility of casual or permanent employment arrangements, depending on your preference and availability. As a Qualified Butcher, you will play a vital role in our operation, bringing your expertise and skill to deliver high-quality meat preparation and customer service. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for excellence and ensuring our customers receive the finest products and service.

Key responsibilities

1. Preparing, cutting, and portioning meat to the highest standards whilst adhering to food safety regulations

2. Operating and maintaining butchery equipment safely and efficiently

3. Selecting and assessing quality of raw meat materials to ensure only premium products are used

4. Creating specialty cuts and custom orders based on customer requirements

5. Maintaining exceptional standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the butchery workspace

6. Packaging and labelling meat products accurately with appropriate pricing and product information

7. Assisting customers with product selection and providing knowledgeable advice on meat types and cooking recommendations

8. Managing inventory and stock rotation to minimise waste and maintain freshness

9. Contributing to a positive team environment and supporting colleagues

10. Complying with all relevant food safety legislation and workplace health and safety requirements

What we're looking for

1. Current qualifications as a Qualified retail Butcher recognized within the industry

2. Extensive hands-on experience in butchery, meat preparation, and processing

3. Proficiency in using traditional and modern butchery equipment and tools

4. Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards, including HACCP principles

5. Ability to work efficiently and maintain high standards under pressure

6. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality in all aspects of the work

7. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach

8. Physical capability to perform the demands of the role, including standing for extended periods and lifting heavy items

9. Reliability, professionalism, and a positive attitude

10. Knowledge of meat cuts, quality grading, and product handling is highly valued

11. Certificate III in Meat Processing (Retail Butcher) or equivalent recognised qualification required

12. Australian permanent residency status required
