Trainee Optical Technician - Learn a Skilled Trade

Opticare is one of Australia's longest-standing independent optical lens manufacturers. Family-founded in Sydney in 1984, we are 100% Australian owned and operated, and for over 40 years we have been making prescription lenses at our Auburn facility for optometry practices right across the country.

While most of the world's lenses now come off overseas production lines, we still craft ours here, from raw material to finished product, using world-class freeform equipment and coating technology. Our lab has built its reputation on doing the jobs other labs can't: complex prescriptions, tight tolerances, work that demands real skill and a steady hand.

That skill has to be passed on, and that is where you come in. We are taking on two people to learn the craft of optical manufacturing from the ground up. No experience needed. What we need is someone who wants to learn a genuine trade and build a long-term career in an industry that values precision and rewards it.

This is not a standard process-line job. It is a rare chance to learn a skilled trade, fully trained, in a field where hands-on ability is hard to find and getting harder.

What you will be doing and learning

• Operating lens manufacturing equipment

• Preparing, edging and fitting lenses into frames

• Running quality checks to fine tolerances

• Reading and working from production orders

• Keeping the lab clean, safe and organised
