We are looking for a skilled and experienced Metal Fabricator to join our team. The successful candidate should have a solid background in metal fabrication and manufacturing, with a proven ability to interpret technical drawings, fabricate and assemble metal components, and operate fabrication equipment safely and efficiently. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality workmanship while maintaining workplace safety and operational standards.

Task & responsibilities

  • Interpret technical diagrams, sketches, and detailed instructions to understand fabrication requirements and project scope.
  • Choose appropriate metal materials, thoroughly clean them, and prepare the stock for fabrication.
  • Use a combination of manual tools, cutting torches, and powered machinery to carve out designated shapes and sections from metal.
  • Form and contour metal components and piping through mechanical or manual processes, including heating and striking when necessary.
  • Accurately position and secure parts in preparation for assembly, using measuring tools and handheld devices.
  • Assemble and connect metal elements using a variety of techniques such as welding, bolting, or riveting.
  • Inspect weld joints to ensure they meet quality standards, focusing on weld width, depth, and precision.
  • Apply finishing techniques such as sanding, buffing, acid treatments, or polishing to refine and complete the fabricated items.
  • Remove imperfections and smooth welded areas using tools like grinders, chisels, and files.

Qualification & experience

  • Previous experience in metal fabrication, aluminium work, or a similar trade-basedrole
  • Trade qualification or relevant certification in metal fabrication (Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade preferred)
  • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and use fabrication tools and equipment
  • Keen attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality workmanship
  • Familiarity with workplace health and safety protocols
  • Physically fit and capable of handling materials and tools safely
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime when required
