TJ PAINTING GROUP PTY LTD is seeking an experienced and motivated Painter / Painting Trades Worker to join our growing team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality residential, commercial, and industrial painting services while maintaining professional workmanship and safety standards.

About the Role

The Painter / Painting Trades Worker will be responsible for carrying out painting and surface finishing works across a range of projects. The role requires technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Preparing surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, patching holes, removing old paint, and cleaning surfaces.

• Applying paints, varnishes, stains, primers, sealers, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.

• Mixing and matching paint colours and finishes to meet project specifications and client requirements.

• Measuring work areas and calculating the quantity of materials required for projects.

• Hanging wallpapers, decorative finishes, and applying textures where required.

• Erecting and working safely on ladders, scaffolding, and elevated platforms.

• Protecting surrounding areas with drop sheets, masking tape, and protective coverings during painting works.

• Ensuring all painting works are completed in accordance with industry standards, project timelines, and workplace safety requirements.

• Inspecting completed work to ensure high-quality finishes and rectifying any defects where necessary.

• Maintaining painting tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and safe condition.

• Following workplace health and safety procedures and complying with company policies and Australian safety standards.

• Liaising with supervisors, contractors, and clients regarding project progress and specifications.

Skills and Requirements:

• Relevant qualification equivalent to Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or at least 3 years of relevant work experience.

• Demonstrated experience in residential and/or commercial painting projects.

• Strong knowledge of painting materials, techniques, coatings, and surface preparation methods.

• Ability to interpret work orders, plans, and specifications.

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Good communication and time management skills.

• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices.

• Valid driver’s licence will be considered advantageous.
