NC Metal Arts Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and motivated Metal Fabricator to join our growing team. In this role, you will mark off and fabricate structural steel and other metal stock to make or repair metal products and structures. This is a hands-on trade position requiring proven fabrication skills and a commitment to quality and workplace safety.

Task & responsibilities

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, fabrication sketches and job specifications to determine fabrication requirements and material dimensions.
• Marking out, measuring and preparing steel and metal stock for cutting, shaping and fabrication processes in accordance with project specifications.
• Cutting, drilling and shaping metal sections and components using hand tools, power tools, grinders and metalworking machinery.
• Fabricating, assembling and constructing structural and architectural steel products including steel beams, columns, staircases, handrails and custom metal structures.
• Shaping, bending, aligning and fitting fabricated metal sections and components using workshop machinery, measuring instruments and fabrication tools.
• Joining metal sections and components using MIG welding and other welding techniques in accordance with engineering drawings and workplace safety standards.
• Positioning, aligning and securing fabricated components using clamps, fixtures and measuring devices to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Inspecting fabricated metal products and welded joints to verify precision, measurements, alignment and compliance with quality standards and specifications.
• Carrying out repairs, modifications and replacement of fabricated metal structures and components as required.
• Grinding, cleaning, smoothing and finishing fabricated metal products prior to installation or delivery.
• Performing routine maintenance of fabrication tools, welding equipment and workshop machinery.
• Following workplace health and safety procedures and maintaining a safe, clean and compliant fabrication environment.

Qualification & experience

• An AQF Certificate IV Engineering/Fabrication Trade or higher in related field 
• Demonstrated at least 1 year full time or equivalent working experience preferably in structural steel fabrication and MIG welding. 
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and fabrication sketches. 
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, grinders and metalworking machinery. 
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. 
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards relevant to fabrication environments. 
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
