Motor Mechanic (General)

PBX Automotive Pty Ltd T/as PBX Auto Care is seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our workshop team in Melton. The successful candidate will have a strong background in vehicle servicing, diagnostics, mechanical repairs and customer service.

Task & responsibilities

• Perform routine vehicle servicing and maintenance, including oil changes, brake inspections and repairs, fluid checks, tyre rotation, and general mechanical and safety inspections.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in motor vehicles using diagnostic equipment, specialist tools and testing procedures. 
• Dismantle and inspect engines, transmissions, steering systems, braking systems, suspension components and other vehicle assemblies to identify faults, wear or damage. 
• Repair or replace faulty vehicle components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, cooling systems and electrical systems. 
• Reassemble engines and vehicle components after repairs, ensuring correct adjustment and proper operation. 
• Conduct road tests, safety inspections and post-repair checks to ensure vehicles meet performance and safety standards. 
• Order spare parts and assist with stock control to ensure required parts and materials are available for scheduled repairs and servicing. 
• Work with other team members to complete repairs efficiently and maintain high standards of workmanship. 
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment in accordance with workplace health and safety procedures. 
• Communicate clearly with customers regarding vehicle faults, repair options, estimated costs and completed work. 

Qualification & experience

• Relevant AQF Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or higher, or equivalent qualification. 
• At least 1–2 years of relevant experience as a Motor Mechanic, preferably in Australia. 
• Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostic procedures and repair methods.  
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment, hand tools and workshop equipment safely and efficiently. 
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
• Good communication skills and a customer service-focused attitude. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy workshop environment. 
• Full, valid driver licence.
