Diesel Motor Mechanic

The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and heavy vehicles. Duties include performing routine servicing and maintenance, inspecting and testing engines to identify faults, repairing or replacing defective components, maintaining accurate service records, ensuring compliance with workplace safety standards, and assisting with general workshop operations and complex mechanical repairs as required.

Task & responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines and heavy vehicle mechanical systems
• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on commercial vehicles and trucks
• Inspect, test, and identify mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment
• Repair or replace defective engine components, transmissions, braking systems, and related parts
• Conduct engine tuning, testing, and post-repair inspections to ensure roadworthiness and performance
• Maintain accurate service and repair records in accordance with workshop procedures
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards and manufacturer specifications
• Collaborate with workshop staff  on complex mechanical repairs and troubleshooting

Qualification & experience

• Cert iii in Automotive Diesal Engine Technology or relevant trade qualification 
• Proven at least one year experience as a diesel mechanic
• Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems
• Ability to use diagnostic tools effectively
• Good problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and in a team
