The Sheetmetal Trades Worker will support the delivery of residential and commercial HVAC projects by assembling, modifying, and installing sheetmetal ductwork. The role involves interpreting drawings, taking site measurements, and working closely with the mechanical services team to ensure installations meet industry standards and project requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assembling and installing sheetmetal ductwork and HVAC components
  • Reading and interpreting drawings, plans, and specifications
  • Conducting accurate site measurements and preparing basic sketches
  • Installing rigid and flexible duct systems across various sites
  • Operating sheetmetal tools and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Following WHS procedures and completing required site safety documentation

Qualifications and skills:

  • Trade qualification in sheetmetal, or related field
  • Experience in HVAC duct installation on residential or commercial projects
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings
  • White Card and EWP licence desirable
  • Strong safety awareness and ability to work in a team environment

To be based in Melrose Park, Sydney, this full time position is offering a salary of $77,000-$85,000 + super for the right candidate.

Task & responsibilities

  • Assemble and install sheetmetal ductwork for HVAC systems.
  • Read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications for duct installation.
  • Take accurate site measurements and prepare basic sketches as required.
  • Install rigid and flexible duct systems across residential and commercial sites.
  • Operate sheetmetal tools, machinery, and hand tools safely and efficiently.
  • Assist the mechanical services team with HVAC installation tasks.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure ductwork meets project and industry standards.
  • Follow WHS procedures and complete required site safety documentation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and handle materials appropriately.

Qualification & experience

  • Trade qualification in sheetmetal, metal engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience assembling and installing sheetmetal ductwork for residential and commercial HVAC systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and basic technical specifications.
  • Experience taking accurate site measurements and preparing simple sketches.
  • Competence using hand tools and sheetmetal equipment for duct installation.
  • Understanding of WHS procedures on construction and mechanical services sites.
  • White Card required; EWP or Working at Heights tickets desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and within a mechanical installation team.
