Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, measurements, and technical specifications
  • Fabricate steel fixtures, framing, and door panelling in line with company measurements, specifications, and material selections
  • Assist in the design and layout of custom garage doors and their components based on site requirements
  • Fabrication, modification and remediation of new and existing garage doors, parts panels and other associated hardware.
  • Select and work with appropriate metals and materials, applying knowledge of structural behaviour, expansion, and environmental considerations
  • Apply efficient fabrication methodologies to ensure consistent quality and workflow efficiency
  • Perform welding using MIG, TIG, and/or Stick techniques as required
  • Conduct on-site fabrication and in factory works, including repairs and remediation
  • Carry out hot works safely in accordance with site requirements and applicable permits
  • Support installation and servicing teams with custom fabrication solutions and on-site problem-solving, guidance and preparation of hardware to suit their needs
  • Inspect finished products and welds for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications
  • Perform maintenance and repair work on existing garage door systems and related structures, generally non structural work.
  • Maintain strong adherence to workplace health and safety standards in both workshop and on-site environments

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant trade qualification (e.g. Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or equivalent)
  • 2–3 years’ experience as a Metal Fabricator or Garage Doors is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in fabrication of steel fixtures, framing, or similar structural components
  • Experience working in both workshop and on-site environments
  • Proven experience with repairs, remediation, and hot works
  • Strong understanding of metal properties including structural behaviour, movement, and environmental considerations
  • Ability to interpret measurements and translate specifications into accurate fabrication outcomes
  • Experience planning and executing fabrication processes for efficiency and consistency
  • Strong understanding of safe work practices in fabrication and hot works environments
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in garage doors, construction, or related industries is highly regarded
