Welder (First Class)

Position Overview

The Welder will be responsible for fabricating, repairing, and maintaining metal components, machinery, and structural equipment used in agricultural and processing operations. The role requires precision welding, equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Studying blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements
• Selecting, cleaning, and preparing metal stock for welding processes
• Setting up and operating welding equipment such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding machines
• Joining metal sections using various welding techniques to required specifications
• Examining welds for width, penetration, and precision to ensure compliance with standards
• Repairing worn or damaged metal components on farm machinery, drying equipment, and structural frames
• Fabricating and assembling metal parts for agricultural and processing equipment
• Grinding, finishing, and smoothing welded surfaces to meet quality requirements
• Performing routine maintenance and inspections on welding equipment
• Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with workplace safety procedures and industry regulations

Skills & Experience Required

• Relevant trade qualification (Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or equivalent)
• At least 2 years of relevant welding experience in a similar environment
• Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints
• Experience with MIG, TIG, and arc welding techniques
• Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a rural environment
