Essential Skills and Knowledge:

Demonstrated expertise in fresh produce quality assessment across a broad range of fruit and vegetable categories.
In-depth knowledge of wholesale produce markets, seasonal supply cycles, and pricing dynamics.
Strong negotiation skills with proven experience managing supplier and grower relationships.
Sound understanding of food safety, handling, and storage requirements for fresh produce.
Proficiency in analysing sales data, stock reports, and market intelligence to inform purchasing decisions.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced wholesale market environment with early morning operating hours.

Monitoring sales data and stock levels, and studying trade, manufacturers' and market information to keep informed of changing market conditions
Negotiating purchase, promotion and supply arrangements with suppliers
Designing and implementing pricing, marketing, promotional and display strategies
Liaising with management on long-term planning and sales promotions
Establishing working plans according to seasonal and budgetary requirements
Anticipating consumer trends and determining quantity, style and quality of goods to be purchased

Sourcing and Procurement: Identifying growers and wholesalers for the best quality and yield of fresh produce.

Inventory and Quality Control: Analyzing sales data to forecast seasonal demand and ensure produce is fresh and adheres to company standards.
Market Strategy: Planning visual displays, pricing strategies, and seasonal promotional campaigns.

AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
At least one year experience required for sponsorship purposes.
