Retail Buyer

H & D RETAIL PTY LIMITED trading as TOYMATE, is seeking a full-time Retail Buyer to assist with the selection, sourcing and purchasing of toys and related merchandise for resale across its retail stores and online channels. The role will involve reviewing supplier catalogues and product proposals, preparing purchase orders, liaising with local and international suppliers, monitoring stock and SKU information, coordinating shipment requirements, reviewing product and packaging details, and supporting seasonal product range planning.

Task & responsibilities

• Review supplier catalogues, product proposals, samples, pricing and availability to assist in selecting suitable toys and related merchandise for resale by Toymate.
• Source and purchase products from local and international suppliers, having regard to product quality, price, availability, customer demand, seasonal trends and Toymate’s retail requirements.
• Prepare and manage purchase orders for approved suppliers, ensuring order details, quantities, pricing and delivery arrangements are accurate.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding product specifications, pricing, order quantities, delivery schedules, packaging requirements and shipment documentation.
• Monitor and maintain stock levels, SKU performance and inventory information to support buying decisions, reorder planning and product availability across Toymate stores.
• Review product information, packaging details and private label requirements to ensure accuracy and suitability before products are approved for shipment or retail sale.
• Work with the buying and management teams to review product range performance, seasonal requirements, promotional stock needs and future purchasing opportunities.
• Assist in planning product ranges for key retail periods, including Christmas, school holidays and promotional campaigns.
• Coordinate with warehouse, logistics and imports teams to support timely delivery of purchased products into Toymate’s supply chain.
