We are seeking a Retail Buyer who will be responsible for selecting, sourcing and purchasing merchandise that aligns with customer demand and business objectives. This role involves analysing sales trends and stock levels, monitoring market conditions and evaluating supplier performance to make informed buying decisions. The Retail Buyer will negotiate pricing and supply terms, manages promotional opportunities and collaborates with internal teams to plan seasonal ranges and budgets. They anticipate consumer trends, determine appropriate product quantities, styles and quality standards, and ensure the merchandise mix supports profitability, brand positioning and overall sales growth.

Task & responsibilities

  • Monitoring sales performance data and stock levels while analysing trade reports, supplier insights and broader market intelligence to stay ahead of shifting market conditions.
  • Negotiating purchasing and supply agreements with suppliers, including terms for promotions, pricing and ongoing product availability.
  • Designing and executing pricing strategies, marketing initiatives, promotional campaigns and in‑store display concepts to maximise customer engagement and sales outcomes.
  • Collaborating with senior management on long‑term planning, category direction and major promotional events.
  • Developing operational plans aligned with seasonal trends, budget constraints and organisational objectives.
  • Forecasting consumer behaviour and determining the optimal quantity, style and quality of merchandise required to meet demand and maintain a competitive product offering.

Qualification & experience

  • More than one (1) year of proven experience as a Retail Buyer.
  • Strong analytical ability to interpret sales data, stock levels and market trends.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating pricing, supply terms and promotional agreements.
  • Ability to plan seasonal ranges, budgets and product assortments.
  • Strong understanding of consumer behaviour and emerging market trends.
  • Proficiency with retail inventory, ordering and reporting systems.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and relationship‑building abilities.
  • Strong decision‑making skills with a focus on profitability and product performance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a dynamic retail setting.
