Retail Manager (Full Time)

The Retail Manager will manage the day-to-day operation of Jesters Malaga, a branded food retail outlet specialising in Jesters jaffle pies, sausage rolls, pastries, chips, beverages, frozen pies, meal deals and takeaway food products. The duties will include:

• Determining and managing the store’s product range, including Jesters jaffle pies, sausage rolls, pastries, chips, beverages, frozen pie packs, combo meals and promotional food items, based on customer demand, sales trends, seasonal periods and Jesters brand requirements.
• Managing stock levels for key food and beverage products, packaging, condiments, ingredients and retail supplies to ensure the store has sufficient stock for daily trading, lunch rushes, weekends and peak customer periods.
• Coordinating purchasing and ordering from approved suppliers, including frozen pies, pastries, drinks, packaging and other store supplies, while monitoring product quality, delivery timing, stock rotation and wastage.
• Planning and implementing in-store promotions, meal deals, product displays and local marketing activities to increase sales of Jesters pies, combo meals, beverages and seasonal products.
• Overseeing the sale of Jesters food and beverage products to customers, ensuring staff provide friendly service, accurate product information and efficient transaction processing through the POS system.
• Monitoring daily sales, product performance, customer preferences and high-selling menu items to support better stock planning, pricing decisions and promotional strategies.
• Maintaining accurate business records, including daily sales reports, POS records, stock records, supplier invoices, cash handling, banking, payroll, staff rosters and other operational documents.
• Preparing and monitoring store budgets, revenue, expenses, gross margins, food costs, wastage and labour costs to support the profitability and financial performance of the business.
• Recruiting, selecting, training, supervising and rostering staff to ensure the store is adequately staffed during breakfast, lunch, afternoon and weekend trading periods.
• Training staff in Jesters product knowledge, customer service standards, POS procedures, food handling practices, cleaning duties, stock rotation and workplace safety requirements.
• Supervising staff performance during daily operations and ensuring tasks such as serving customers, heating/preparing products, restocking displays, cleaning service areas and maintaining store presentation are completed properly.
• Ensuring the store maintains high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, food safety and presentation in accordance with food retail requirements and Jesters brand expectations.
• Managing customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally, and taking appropriate steps to maintain customer satisfaction and repeat business.
• Ensuring all food products are displayed, stored, prepared and sold in accordance with food safety, hygiene and quality requirements, including temperature control, stock rotation and expiry date monitoring.
• Coordinating online and delivery orders where applicable, ensuring orders are prepared accurately, packed correctly and provided to customers or delivery partners in a timely manner.
• Ensuring the store complies with workplace health and safety requirements, including safe use of food preparation equipment, manual handling, cleaning procedures and safe working practices.
• Reporting to the business owner/director regarding store performance, staffing needs, customer demand, operational issues, sales results and improvement strategies.
• Maintaining the overall presentation and smooth operation of Jesters Malaga so that the store continues to meet customer expectations, Jesters brand standards and business performance objectives.

Qualification & Experience Requirements:

• AQF associate degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2)
• At least 1 year experience required.
• Strong knowledge of retail food service operations, including managing product range, stock control, customer service standards, sales targets, staff supervision and daily store procedures.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume retail food environment, particularly during peak trading periods, lunch rushes, catering orders and promotional periods.
• Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, workplace health and safety, cash handling, customer service, and staff management requirements relevant to a retail food outlet.
