Three Mills Bakery is one of Canberra's leading artisan bakery businesses, supplying high-quality baked goods to a growing network of wholesale customers, hospitality venues, and retail operations. Due to an upcoming vacancy within our operations team, we are seeking expressions of interest from experienced and motivated candidates for the position of Supply and Distribution Manager.

This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing the efficient coordination of supply chain, logistics, warehousing, dispatch, inventory management, and distribution activities to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of products across our wholesale and retail operations. Working closely with production and senior management teams, the successful candidate will play an integral role in maintaining operational excellence, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting the ongoing growth of the business.

Task & responsibilities

  • Plan, organise, direct, control and coordinate the storage, supply and distribution of bakery products across wholesale and retail operations. 
  • Manage daily logistics, dispatch, inventory control, warehousing and delivery scheduling activities. 
  • Coordinate stock movement and inventory levels to ensure efficient product availability and minimise wastage. 
  • Develop and implement distribution strategies to improve operational efficiency and customer service outcomes. 
  • Liaise with production teams to coordinate forecasting, stock requirements and order fulfilment activities. 
  • Monitor and analyse operational performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Manage and supervise logistics, dispatch, packing and distribution staff to ensure operational objectives are achieved. 
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators relating to inventory management, order fulfilment, delivery performance and customer satisfaction. 
  • Coordinate with suppliers, transport providers and customers to ensure the timely delivery of products. 
  • Investigate and resolve supply chain, inventory and distribution issues as they arise.  
  • Prepare operational reports and provide recommendations to senior management regarding supply chain performance and resource planning. 
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, food safety and quality assurance requirements. 

Qualification & experience

  • Relevant qualification at Diploma level or higher in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Management, Operations Management, or a related field (desirable)  
  • Minimum two (2) years of full-time experience in a relevant supply chain, logistics, warehousing, distribution, inventory management, or operations management position. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing logistics, inventory control, warehousing or distribution operations. 
  • Strong leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. 
  • Experience using inventory management, logistics or ERP systems will be highly regarded. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production and distribution environment. 
  • Strong commitment to operational efficiency, continuous improvement and customer service excellence.
