The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the organisation's quality management framework and ensuring that agricultural operations, workforce practices, and service delivery meet applicable industry, regulatory, customer, and business standards. The role requires a proactive leader who can drive continuous improvement initiatives, manage compliance requirements, and foster a strong quality culture throughout the organisation.

Task & responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain quality assurance policies, procedures, and management systems across seed production, processing, storage, and distribution operations.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate quality control activities to ensure agricultural seeds meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Monitor seed testing programs, including germination, purity, moisture, and health assessments, to maintain product quality and consistency.
  • Oversee compliance with national and international agricultural quality standards, certification requirements, and biosecurity regulations.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and manage corrective and preventive actions arising from audit findings.
  • Establish quality performance indicators and prepare quality assurance reports for senior management.
  • Investigate quality-related issues, customer complaints, and non-conformance incidents, implementing effective solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Liaise with seed certification authorities, laboratories, suppliers, and regulatory bodies regarding quality compliance and certification matters.
  • Review and improve operational processes to enhance product quality, efficiency, traceability, and risk management.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on quality assurance procedures, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage documentation and record-keeping systems relating to quality assurance, certification, testing, and compliance activities.
  • Coordinate quality assurance requirements throughout the supply chain, ensuring product integrity from seed sourcing to final distribution.

Qualification & experience

  • Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Quality Management, Agriculture, Food Science, Business Management, Operations Management, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in quality assurance, compliance, auditing, operations management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing quality management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance principles, risk management, compliance frameworks, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to interpret legislation, standards, policies, and operational procedures.

Desirable

  • Experience within agriculture, horticulture, food production, labour hire, or agribusiness environments.
  • Knowledge of ISO quality management systems and auditing processes.
  • Experience managing compliance requirements relating to workplace health and safety, food safety, or agricultural operations.
  • Internal or Lead Auditor qualifications.
  • Experience implementing corrective and preventive action programs.
