Transport Company Manager

Singh Transport Australia Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and organised Transport Company Manager to oversee and coordinate transport operations from its Victoria location.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing transport operations, driver coordination, fleet performance, maintenance planning, compliance, and overall operational efficiency to ensure reliable logistics services. This role is ideal for a motivated transport professional with strong leadership, problem solving, and operational management skills.

Task & responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee the transportation of goods to ensure safe and timely delivery
• Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and scheduling systems
• Manage daily transport operations, including allocation of vehicles and drivers
• Ensure all fleet vehicles maintain current registration, insurance, servicing, and roadworthiness
• Supervise drivers and operational staff to ensure compliance with road safety, fatigue management, and transport legislation
• Oversee fleet maintenance, repairs, inspections, and equipment utilisation
• Monitor transport budgets, fuel usage, maintenance costs, and overall financial performance
• Implement cost‑control measures to improve operational efficiency
• Recruit, train, and supervise drivers and support staff
• Investigate and document incidents or accidents in line with company procedures
• Maintain accurate operational records, including mileage, fuel consumption, delivery schedules, and compliance documentation
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, and business partners to coordinate transport requirements and resolve operational issues
• Manage customer enquiries and complaints in a professional manner
• Coordinate freight collection, loading, dispatch, and delivery across operational locations
• Prepare operational, compliance, and fleet performance reports for management
• Ensure all transport activities comply with workplace health and safety regulations and company policies

Qualification & experience

• Completion of an AQF-relevant Diploma
• Minimum 3 years full‑time experience in transport management or transport and logistics operations
• Sound knowledge of transport operations, fleet compliance, NHVR regulations, fatigue management, and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Demonstrated experience managing transport operations involving multiple vehicles, drivers, and freight movements
• Strong organisational, leadership, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced operational environment
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise with clients, drivers, suppliers, and operational teams
• Proficiency in transport management systems, fleet scheduling software, Microsoft Office, and operational reporting tools
