Fleet Manager

The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and performance of the company’s vehicle fleet. This role ensures the efficient, cost-effective, and compliant operation of all fleet activities, including maintenance, safety, and logistics coordination. The Fleet Manager will lead a team of drivers and logistics personnel, driving operational excellence and contributing to the company’s strategic goals.

Task & responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate purchase and maintenance of transport vehicles, equipment and fuel to minimize downtime.
• Meet the client's logistics needs effectively by providing them with advice and information regarding vehicle type.
• Plan and implement transportation schedules ensuring optimal performance.
• Ensure goods are stored and transported in conditions that will maintain their quality.
• Prepare and maintain business records and regular reports on fleet performance, costs etc.
• Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
• Manage budgets and negotiate contracts with suppliers and service providers.
• Lead and support a team of drivers and logistics personnel, fostering a culture of safety and accountability.

Qualification & experience

• Education: Diploma (preferred). 
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year in fleet management or a similar role within the logistics/transportation industry. 
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in fleet management software and tracking systems. 
• Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Australian transport regulations and compliance requirements. 
• Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and support a diverse team. 
• Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
• Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with clients, drivers, and stakeholders.
