Within Northway Logistics, the Supply and Distribution Manager is responsible for overseeing the coordination of freight movement, container handling, warehousing and distribution activities across metropolitan and interstate routes. The role ensures efficient scheduling of transport services, controlled inventory management and structured dispatch operations to meet client delivery timeframes.

This position plays a key role in maintaining cost-effective logistics performance, operational compliance and reliable end-to-end supply chain execution within a transport-focused environment.

Tasks:

  • Developing and implementing supply chain, warehousing, and distribution strategies to ensure efficient freight movement across interstate and metropolitan routes.
  • Planning and maintaining optimal stock and container holding levels within warehouse facilities to minimise storage costs and prevent delivery delays.
  • Negotiating service agreements and transport contracts with freight providers, subcontract drivers, fuel suppliers, and warehouse service providers to meet cost, delivery, and compliance requirements.
  • Monitoring warehouse operations, container allocation, and inventory management systems to ensure accurate tracking of inbound and outbound freight.
  • Overseeing digital freight management systems to record all freight movements, proof of deliveries, container returns, and scheduling data.
  • Coordinating with operations staff, fleet controllers, and clients regarding dispatch schedules, delivery timeframes, and transport requirements.
  • Managing the documentation and compliance processes relating to transport manifests, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations, and logistics reporting.
  • Supervising warehouse personnel, dispatch coordinators, and drivers; monitoring performance; and ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards.
  • Ensuring timely and cost-effective provision of logistics and freight distribution services to commercial clients across multiple industries

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A relevant bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business or a related field or a minimum of five years of relevant experience in supply chain, transport or distribution management.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control systems, freight coordination and warehouse operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate supplier and subcontractor agreements while maintaining cost efficiency.
  • Sound understanding of transport compliance, safety obligations and operational reporting.
  • Proven leadership skills to supervise distribution teams and manage performance outcomes.
