Welder (First Class)

The successful candidate will be responsible for high-quality welding and fabrication work in line with engineering drawings, job specifications and Australian standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches and specifications.
• Set up, align and secure workpieces using jigs, clamps and fixtures.
• Perform welding using MIG, TIG and/or flux-cored processes on structural and plate steel.
• Fabricate, assemble and repair metal structures, frames and components.
• Inspect welds for quality, alignment and conformance to specifications; carry out rework where required.
• Operate a range of metalworking equipment (e.g. grinders, cutters, drills, saws) safely and efficiently.
• Measure, cut, straighten and shape steel sections as required for each job.
• Maintain tools, welding equipment and work areas in a safe, clean and serviceable condition.
• Follow all WHS procedures, wearing appropriate PPE and contributing to a safe work environment.

Skills and Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (or equivalent qualification).
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Welder.
• Proven experience with MIG welding (TIG and stick welding highly regarded).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.
• Solid understanding of welding procedures, materials and fabrication techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
• Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling tasks.

Employment Conditions

• Full-time position (38 hours per week).
• Salary: $76,000 – $80,000 per year, plus superannuation (depending on skills and experience).
