In-House Legal Counsel - Property

The Role

Are you a commercially minded lawyer looking for an opportunity to move beyond private practice and become a trusted advisor within a growing business?

Our client is a well-established property investment and development group seeking a Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal support across a diverse property portfolio and wider business operations. This is a hands-on role offering exposure to high-value transactions, commercial decision-making, and direct engagement with senior leadership.

As the sole legal advisor within the business, you will play a key role in managing legal risk, supporting commercial objectives, and ensuring compliance across all aspects of the organisation's activities.

Working closely with the executive leadership and operational teams, you will provide practical and commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of matters including property transactions, development projects, leasing arrangements, contracts, compliance, and corporate governance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Acting as the primary legal advisor to the business across all property and commercial matters.
• Supporting acquisitions, disposals, developments, construction projects, and leasing transactions.
• Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing a variety of commercial agreements and legal documentation.
• Advising stakeholders on legal risk, regulatory obligations, and strategic business initiatives.
• Managing due diligence processes and supporting transaction execution.
• Providing guidance on insurance, banking, marketing, and operational matters.
• Developing and maintaining compliance frameworks, policies, and risk management processes.
• Managing external legal providers where required and ensuring cost-effective legal support.

About You

• Admitted lawyer with a minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience.
• Strong background in property, commercial, or real estate law.
• Experience advising on acquisitions, developments, leasing, and commercial transactions.
• Commercially astute with the ability to deliver pragmatic, solutions-focused advice.
• Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and influencing business decisions.
• Able to work autonomously while building strong relationships across the organisation.
• Previous in-house experience is advantageous but not essential.
