Production Manager

My client is a major heavy industrial equipment manufacturer in Sydney's West. It designs and fabricates equipment used in water treatment, mining and mineral processing and lifting (construction) industries and is a recongised global leader in several segments

Right now there is an opportunity for a talented production/fabrication manager to lead the day shift team (M-F 6.30am-2.30pm).

Reporting to the operations manager this role is responsible for the day to day production and has 6 direct reports.

Key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing and optimising production to achieve production targets.

• Fostering a safe work environment and implementing continous improvements.

• Production planning and scheduling.

• Effective team leadership and staff development.

• Quality Control.

• Coordinating essential maintenance with maintenance teams to optimise production and reliability.

• Management and kpi reporting.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have a metals trades background preferably with either an engineering or management diploma. Front line leadership training is also preferred.

• At least 5 years experience as a production or fabrication manager in a metals or engineering business. Ideally in the structural steel or heavy equipment/electromechanical equipment segments. Note: this is more than an assembly process.

• Excellent planning, communication and collaboration skills.

• A "hands on-can do" positive attitude.

• The ability to communciate effectively at the both the shop floor and c-suite.

• Permanent local working rights, valid driver's licence and vehicle.
