About us:

Smeg is an Italian home appliance manufacturer formed in 1948 by the Bertazzoni family and is based in Guastalla, near Reggio Emilia in the North of Italy.  In 1986, the Smeg brand was introduced to Australia in its own right, with exclusive distribution rights then being granted to the company. Since then, the Smeg brand has become a household name in Australia for premium cooking and kitchen appliances, and in January 2011 the franchise was reinstated into the Smeg Group as a wholly owned subsidiary known as Smeg Australia Pty Ltd.

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our sales team. Under the supervision of the State Commercial Manager, this position primarily emphasizes new business development (prospecting) while also managing existing accounts. This role involves frequent travel across Sydney to identify fresh sales prospects and engage with new and current clients. A comprehensive induction process and product training will be provided, along with continuous support from a devoted, cooperative local team. Furthermore, this role offers the chance to work within an enjoyable, and supportive organizational culture where your insights are appreciated and valued.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a high level of face-to-face contact with your customer base and their associated trades and merchants whilst managing the administrative requirements of the business that are required in your role.

  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships with Merchants, Developers, Architects, and builders.

  • Negotiate contracts and close agreements to maximize profits.

  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to customer needs and objectives.

  • Clearly communicate the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to management and commercial team.

  • Develop new business with existing clients and new clients.

  • Collaborate with sales team to identify and grow opportunities within territory.

  • Assist with challenging client requests or issue escalations as needed.

  • Provide monthly report including market, customer and competitor activity

  • Achievement of the Commercial Projects monthly, and annual sales revenue budget

Key Performance Measures:

·       Sales target to be met

·       Reporting

·       Market analysis

·       Key account management

·       New business lead generation

Requirement and Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as an Account manager or Business Development Manager

·       Experience in multi-residential building industry

·       Experience in builder merchants / distribution

·       Hold strong relationships with Merchants, Developers, Architects & Builders

·       Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external.

  • Professional, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Minimum intermediate level of Microsoft Powerpoint programs

  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.

  • Capability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

  • Confidence in public speaking

  • Attend in house product training.

  • Provide product training to our valued clients.

  • Flexibility to attend evening events.
