We are currently seeking a Development Assessment Engineering Officer to join a high-performing local council team. This role sits within the drainage and engineering assessment function, playing a key role in reviewing development applications and supporting infrastructure outcomes across the municipality.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Assess development application referrals, with a focus on drainage and flooding impacts
  • Provide administrative and technical support to the Drainage Development Assessment team
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding development applications
  • Monitor and manage incoming DA referrals, ensuring timely processing
  • Complete tasks within council systems (TechnologyOne, CM9) accurately and within required timeframes
  • Maintain organised and compliant records in line with council procedures
  • Respond to enquiries and correspondence within service level timeframes
  • Contribute to ongoing improvement of engineering processes and specifications
 
About You
Essential Requirements
  • Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Proven experience assessing development applications within a local council environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to resolve conflict and negotiate outcomes
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with TechnologyOne, CM9 and GIS systems
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Excellent time management, organisation and attention to detail
Desirable
  • Experience using the NSW Planning Portal
  • Knowledge of relevant planning frameworks, including:
    • Development Control Plans (DCPs)
    • Local Government Act
