Business Development Manager

This is a newly created hybrid Business Development and Account Management role focused on growing flexible packaging (films, plastics) and machinery solutions across Queensland and New Zealand. You'll be responsible for winning new business, developing strategic customer plans, and nurturing long-term partnerships in a highly relationship-driven environment.

The packaging division alone represents a significant and growing revenue stream, with a clear focus on flexible packaging solutions including films and plastics.

Description

Reporting to the Head of Business Development, you will play a critical role in expanding market share and strengthening client relationships across QLD and NZ.

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop and execute a strategic sales plan across flexible packaging and associated machinery
• Identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities within key industrial and manufacturing sectors
• Manage and grow a portfolio of key accounts, building deep, long-term relationships
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver tailored, solution-based offerings
• Transition newly won clients into long-term partnerships, including structured account handovers
• Represent the business in a highly consultative manner, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor
• Travel regularly across QLD and New Zealand to meet with customers and build pipeline

Profile

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Proven experience in business development and/or account management within packaging, print, or industrial sectors
• Strong exposure to flexible packaging (films, plastics) - highly regarded; rigid/cardboard backgrounds less relevant
• Ability to think strategically about customer growth and long-term value creation
• A natural strength in relationship building and stakeholder engagement
• Commercial acumen with strong negotiation and influencing skills
• Background in print, finishing, or packaging machinery advantageous
• A proactive, self-driven approach with the ability to operate autonomously
• Willingness to travel frequently across QLD and NZ

Job Offer

• Base salary of $110,000 - $130,000 + Super + $20,000 OTE + Car Allowance
