We are seeking an experienced and motivated Afternoon Production Chef Team Leader to take a key leadership role within our high-volume food production operation. This is , hands-on position responsible for leading teams across both production and packaging processes, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and high-quality output every day.

You will play a critical role in supervising operations, driving performance, and supporting the Afternoon Production supervisor in leading a large, fast-paced team environment.

Kids Gourmet Food (KGF) is Australia's leading provider of freshly prepared meals to the childcare sector, supplying centres across Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne.

As a high-volume food production business, we operate across morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts, producing nutritious meals at scale with a strong focus on quality, safety, and reliability.

What You'll Do

In this operational role, you will oversee afternoon production and packaging operations, ensuring smooth workflow, strong team performance, and consistent product quality.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, supervising, and motivating production and packaging teams on shift

  • Managing daily workflow across bulk food production and packaging lines/ stations

  • Ensuring strict adherence to recipes, portion control, and production specifications

  • Driving productivity, efficiency, and on-time output in a high-volume environment

  • Supporting staff training, coaching, and performance management

  • Maintaining strong organisational control across production priorities and labour allocation

  • Ensuring compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and WHS standards

  • Monitoring quality control and resolving operational issues quickly

  • Promoting a positive, accountable, and high-performance team culture

Essential Requirements

  • Full-time, unrestricted Australian working rights (38 hours per week)

  • Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)

  • Proven experience in a supervisory, team leader, within food production, catering, or manufacturing role.

  • Strong leadership ability with experience in team management, motivation, and performance oversight

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills

  • Experience in bulk production and high-volume operations

  • Strong understanding of food safety, WHS, and quality systems

  • Physically fit and able to safely lift and move items up to 25kg on a regular basis

  • Availability to work consistent weekday afternoon shifts (Monday to Friday)

Please note: applicants on student visas or with restricted working hours will not be considered

What We Offer

  • $44.28 per hour

  • Fixed Monday-to-Friday afternoon roster 1 PM to 9 PM
