SpacetoCo is looking for a highly skilled Mid-Level Front End Engineer to help us build high-quality, user-centric systems. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing scalable, secure, and reliable front-end solutions, turning UI/UX designs into efficient, maintainable, and accessible code. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and product managers to ensure our platform is high-performing and visually appealing.

  • Assist SpacetoCo (through networks, contacts and the Perth developer scene) to ensure continuous capacity to deliver a great product to customers.
  • Management of the code through review of the existing code base as well as regularly checking code produced by other members of the team.
  • Leadership & assistance with scoping, planning of new features, Jira & Confluence management and ticket creation
  • Participates in the collaborative activity of planning the architecture for the SpacetoCo website that incorporates both the needs of the business immediately and into the future.
  • Take part in activities, projects and tasks as reasonably assigned to you to further the aims of the business

Task & responsibilities

  • Designing, coding and developing application features and reusable software modules using technologies including JavaScript, TypeScript and Vue.js, implementing business logic through structured and maintainable program code in accordance with system design and technical specifications.
  • Analysing and documenting business requirements, user needs and operational workflows in collaboration with stakeholders and product managers, translating these into functional specifications and implementable software solutions.
  • Writing, reviewing and maintaining program code for platform components while ensuring compliance with internal coding standards, quality guidelines and established software engineering practices.
  • Integrating application components with backend services and RESTful APIs, ensuring reliable communication between system modules and secure data exchange across the platform.
  • Reviewing existing platform functionality and system behaviour to identify limitations, inefficiencies or opportunities for improvement, and preparing technical specifications and flow diagrams for feature enhancements and system refinements.
  • Contributing to system architecture and software design decisions, developing and modifying application components to support scalable, reliable and maintainable platform systems.
  • Implementing, installing and supporting software releases within production environments, managing source control, configuration and release workflows to deploy and maintain stable and reliable system operations.
  • Evaluating system performance and diagnosing bottlenecks, implementing optimisations to improve application responsiveness, scalability and reliability.
  • Testing, debugging, resolving application defects and modifying software to ensure software performs according to system specifications and quality standards prior to deployment.
  • Participating in technical design reviews, architecture discussions and code reviews while applying structured software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices including analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment and ongoing support and maintenance.
  • Preparing and maintaining technical documentation, system descriptions and development guidelines while collaborating with peers and product teams to support long-term maintainability and continuous improvement of the platform.


Qualification & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of experience in a related field
  • Foundational experience or exposure to software development within academic, project, or enterprise environments.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle practices and experience with modern programming languages or frameworks such as Java, JavaScript, C#, or Python.
  • Familiarity with API integration concepts, source control systems, and collaborative development tools.
  • Understanding of secure development principles, quality standards, and delivery methodologies such as Agile or Kanban.
  • Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn engineering processes and standards, and ability to manage tasks and meet delivery expectations.
