THE ROLE

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Strategy & Growth Manager – Energy, Resources & Industrial to join the Saunders team. This role will work closely with the Energy, Resources & Industrial General Manager and be responsible for leading strategic positioning, market development, and revenue growth within the Energy, Resources & Industrial sector, while building long-term business value through pipeline development, brand recognition, and strategic partnerships. 

The position plays a critical leadership role in developing Saunders’ presence in the Energy, Resources & Industrial market, aligning capabilities, capacity, and growth while ensuring that Proposal submissions for engineering, construction or Asset Services opportunities are compliant, competitive, and strategically positioned.  The role will be ideally located in our Perth Office, Western Australia. 

Key responsibilities in the role will be to:

  • Develop and support execution of a structured growth strategy aligned with annual and long-term revenue targets. 

  • Identify, shape and mature a sustainable multi-year pipeline of opportunities across the Energy, Resources & Industrial sector. 

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, principal contractors and key stakeholders to position Saunders as a preferred delivery partner. 

  • Lead early engagement activities including EOIs, RFIs, industry briefings and pre-tender consultations. 

  • Support go/no-go processes, capture strategies and submission governance to improve bid quality, competitiveness and win rates. 

  • Provide market intelligence and strategic advice on sector trends, competitor positioning and client behaviour. 

  • Contribute to revenue forecasting, growth targets and broader business planning with the General Manager. 

  • Promote continuous improvement, innovation and alignment with Saunders’ safety, quality and values-based culture. 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong combination of commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and relationship-building capability, together with a sound understanding of the Engineering, Construction, and Industrial markets. 

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, business, commerce or a related discipline. 

  • Demonstrated experience in business development, strategy, capture management or a related commercial role within engineering, construction or industrial asset & maintenance services. 

  • Strong understanding of the Energy, Resources & Industrial market and the ability to identify, qualify and pursue growth opportunities. 

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills. 

  • Well-developed commercial judgement with the ability to align opportunity selection to business capability, capacity and strategic priorities. 

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. 

  • A collaborative, proactive approach and commitment to fostering a productive team culture.
