Job Description:

8848 Momo House is seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join its kitchen team. Known for serving authentic Nepalese cuisine and flavourful momo dishes, the restaurant focuses on fresh ingredients, traditional recipes, and high-quality food preparation. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing and presenting high-quality dishes, maintaining consistency in taste and presentation, and ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are followed at all times. The Chef will work closely with the kitchen team to support smooth daily operations, supervise food preparation processes, and deliver exceptional dining experiences to customers. Previous experience in a similar role and a passion for Nepalese cuisine are essential.

Task & responsibilities

• Plan and develop menus in consultation with management, taking into account customer preferences, seasonal availability of ingredients, and food cost considerations.
• Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes in accordance with established recipes, restaurant standards, and authentic Nepalese culinary practices.
• Monitor food quality at all stages of preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure consistency, freshness, and customer satisfaction.
• Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient workflow, timely service, and effective coordination between kitchen and front-of-house staff.
• Estimate food and labour costs, manage inventory levels, order supplies, and implement stock control measures to minimise wastage and control expenses.
• Supervise, train, and support kitchen staff, including demonstrating cooking techniques, delegating duties, and maintaining high performance standards.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment at all times.
• Inspect ingredients and finished dishes to ensure quality standards are met and appropriate food storage, preservation, and inventory control procedures are followed.
• Respond to customer feedback and special dietary requirements, adapting menu items and preparation methods where necessary to enhance the dining experience.
• Stay informed of industry trends and culinary developments, contributing to menu improvements and maintaining the restaurant's reputation for quality and innovation.

Qualification & experience

• Minimum 3 years of full-time work experience as a Chef
• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery / Kitchen Management or higher relevant hospitality qualification or equivalent work experience.
• Previous experience preparing Nepalese cuisine will be highly regarded.
• Ability to train, motivate and counsel staff in relation to performance issues Exceptional levels of cleanliness and organisation
