CHEF – FULL-TIME POSITION

ASCENDING GROUP PTY LTD T/As Som Ras Indian Restaurant is a renowned dining establishment located in Chermside, QLD, known for its authentic Indian cuisine, exceptional service, and welcoming atmosphere. We are committed to delivering high-quality dining experiences and are seeking a skilled and motivated Chef to join our growing team.

Position Details

Position: Chef (Full-Time)

Location: Chermside, QLD

Salary: $78,000 – $82,000 per annum plus superannuation

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, cook, and present a wide range of authentic Indian dishes while maintaining consistency and quality standards.
• Develop and design menus, including seasonal specials, and contribute innovative ideas for new menu offerings.
• Monitor food preparation and presentation to ensure compliance with restaurant standards.
• Estimate food and labour costs and assist in managing kitchen budgets.
• Supervise, train, and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
• Monitor stock levels, order food supplies, and maintain inventory records.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards, hygiene regulations, and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Inspect food products and ingredients to ensure freshness and quality.
• Minimise food wastage and implement cost-control measures.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen facilities and ensure kitchen equipment is operated and maintained correctly.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience working as a Chef.
• Strong knowledge of Indian cuisine, ingredients, and cooking techniques.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and customer service.
