Kathmandu Momos is seeking a skilled and dedicated Cook to join its kitchen team. Known for serving authentic Nepalese cuisine and freshly prepared meals, the restaurant is committed to delivering quality food and a welcoming dining experience to its customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, maintaining consistency in taste and presentation, and ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are followed at all times. The Cook will work closely with the team to support smooth kitchen operations and efficient service delivery. Previous experience in a similar role and a passion for food preparation are essential.

Task & responsibilities

• Inspect and assess food ingredients and prepared items to ensure quality, freshness, and compliance with food safety standards.
• Operate and monitor ovens, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment to ensure proper cooking temperatures and performance.
• Prepare, cook, and present a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes, menu specifications, and quality standards.
• Season, flavour, and adjust dishes throughout the cooking process to maintain consistency and high-quality taste profiles.
• Portion food accurately, plate dishes attractively, and add sauces, gravies, and garnishes as required.
• Store food safely in temperature-controlled environments and ensure compliance with food handling and storage regulations.
• Prepare meals to accommodate special dietary requirements and customer requests when required.
• Assist with menu planning, food preparation schedules, and estimating ingredient requirements as needed.
• Support, guide, and train junior kitchen staff and apprentices in food preparation and kitchen procedures.

Qualification & experience

• Minimum of Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent or equivalent work experience 
• Minimum 1 year of experience in related field.
• In-depth knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen operations 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
