Description: The Cardamom Pod Ferry Rd is seeking a skilled and dedicated Cook to join its kitchen team. Known for serving fresh, high-quality meals in a welcoming dining environment, the business focuses on delivering consistent food quality and excellent customer experiences. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, maintaining consistency in taste and presentation, and ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are followed at all times. The Cook will work closely with the team to support smooth kitchen operations and efficient service delivery. Previous experience in a similar role and a passion for food preparation are essential.

Task & responsibilities

• Inspect and assess food items to ensure quality and freshness.
• Operate and regulate ovens, grills, and other kitchen equipment at appropriate temperatures.
• Prepare, cook, and present a variety of dishes according to menu standards.
• Enhance and refine flavours throughout the cooking process to ensure consistent and high quality taste profiles 
• Portion food accurately, plate dishes, and add sauces, gravies, and garnishes as required.
• Store food safely in temperature-controlled environments to maintain quality and comply with food safety standards. 
• Prepare meals to meet special dietary requirements when requested.
• Assist with menu planning and estimating food requirements when needed. 
• Support and train junior kitchen staff and apprentices as required.

Qualification & experience

• Minimum of Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent or equivalent work experience 
• Minimum 1 year of experience in related field.
• In-depth knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen operations 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
