As a Cook, you will play a key role in preparing and presenting high-quality Indian cuisine while maintaining food safety and quality standards. You will work closely with kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations and deliver an outstanding dining experience to customers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing a variety of authentic Indian dishes, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and quality, while supporting daily kitchen operations.

Task & responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present a range of authentic Indian dishes according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Assist in planning menus and suggesting new dishes based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
  • Monitor food preparation and cooking processes to ensure consistency, quality, and portion control.
  • Prepare ingredients including vegetables, meats, spices, sauces, and marinades.
  • Ensure all food is stored, handled, and prepared in accordance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering food supplies and kitchen inventory.
  • Inspect ingredients and finished dishes to maintain high standards of freshness and quality.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Work collaboratively with chefs and kitchen staff during busy service periods.
  • Minimise food wastage and contribute to cost-effective kitchen operations.
  • Comply with workplace health and safety policies and procedures.

Qualification & experience

  • Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 1 - 2 years of full-time relevant work experience as a Cook, preferably in an Indian restaurant environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Indian cuisine, spices, cooking techniques, and food preparation methods.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for food quality, presentation, and customer satisfaction.
