Task & responsibilities

• Planning and developing menus in consultation with management.
• Designing and preparing seasonal menus and daily specials.
• Preparing, cooking, seasoning and presenting a variety of dishes to a high standard.
• Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
• Supervising and coordinating kitchen operations to ensure efficient food production.
• Managing food preparation processes and ensuring consistency in quality and portion control.
• Estimating food and labour costs and assisting with kitchen budgeting.
• Ordering, receiving and managing stock levels of food supplies.
• Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Training, supervising and mentoring kitchen staff, apprentices and kitchen hands.
• Monitoring kitchen equipment and arranging maintenance when required.
• Reducing food wastage and maintaining effective stock rotation procedures.

Qualification & experience

• Relevant qualification equivalent to AQF Certificate IV, Diploma or higher in Commercial Cookery or a related field.
• At least 1 year of relevant full-time work experience as a Chef (or 3 years relevant experience if no formal qualification).
• Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen management procedures.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
