Commis Chef

We are looking for a Full-Time Commis Chef to join our fast-paced à la carte alfresco dining experience located at 21 Kittyhawk Drive, Chermside, QLD, 4032. Renowned for its bold décor, quality food, and exceptional service. Serving meals daily from 11:00am to 9:00pm, The Kitchen offers a vibrant environment where you will play a key role in preparing high-quality meals and enhancing the dining experience for our club patrons. We are looking for chefs that are happy to work a 4 x day working week.

Task & responsibilities

• Work in a fast paced kitchen
• Assist in food preparation, including washing, cutting, peeling, marinating, seasoning, and portioning.
• Prepare and cook meat, seafood, and vegetables using a variety of methods such as frying, grilling, baking, and stewing.
• Work in a designated section as allocated by the Head Chef.
• Collaborate with a small team of apprentices to help develop their skills.
• Prepare ingredients and components in advance for upcoming service periods.
• Contribute innovative ideas and specials that showcase your creative flair.
• Maintain a clean and organised cooking section while adhering to food safety standards and protocols.
• Support the Head Chef in conducting stocktake once a month.
• Assisting the chef team with new menu ideas

Qualification & experience

• Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or above
• Previous commercial kitchen experience
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
• Passion for food and attention to detail
• Strong communication, time management, and organisational skills
• Positive, team-focused attitude
• Willingness to learn
