Chapati House 2 Pty Ltd ATF Chapati House 2 Family Trust (Chapati House 2) is a family-owned restaurant dedicated to serving classic Indian cuisine. We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Cook to join our team and play a key role in day-to-daykitchen operations and food production. As part of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking authentic Indian dishes, overseeing food preservation and ingredient preparation, maintaining food quality and presentation standards, and supporting the kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment. This role requires teamwork, flexibility, and a strong commitment to quality. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about food, demonstrates keen attention to detail, and is committed to delivering high-quality dining experience for every guest.
Salary Range $70000 to $80000
1. Inspect ingredients and organise necessary equipment, ensuring freshness, quality and efficient, timely food preparation.
2. Monitor and regulate the temperatures of grills, ovens, and other kitchen equipment.
3. Prepare and cook Indian cuisine dishes, including full ingredient preparation, in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards.
4. Season dishes appropriately during cooking to achieve consistent, well-balanced flavour.
5. Accurately portion food items and apply garnishes and sauces to complete dishes and ensure an appealing presentation.
6. Adapt food preparation to accommodate special dietary needs.
7. Manage stock rotation, storage, and inventory of ingredients.
8. Maintaining cleanliness & hygiene across the kitchen and temperature-controlled storage areas in accordance with food safety laws.
9. Contribute to planning, designing and modifying restaurant menus.
10. Assist in training apprentices and kitchen staff in culinary techniques and equipment usage.
• At least a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualifications
• Minimum of 1 year of post-qualification relevant experience as a Cook in Australia on a full-time basis
Relevant skills:
• Experience working in an Indian restaurant or preparing Indian cuisine
• Adaptability and capacity to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Upholds high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
• People-oriented with clear communication skills
• Strong passion for cooking and serving quality dishes
• Commitment to delivering quality customer service
