We are seeking a passionate and experienced Chef to join our growing team on a full-time basis. Coffee Life operates from Contingent Street in Trafalgar and is known for its commitment to quality food, excellent customer service and fresh ingredients.

Task & responsibilities

• Planning, preparing and cooking breakfast, brunch, lunch and seasonal menu items.
• Designing and updating menus in consultation with management.
• Developing new recipes and specials to enhance customer experience.
• Monitoring food quality, portion control and presentation standards.
• Estimating food and labour costs and assisting with budgeting.
• Ordering, receiving and monitoring stock supplies and ingredients.
• Managing inventory levels and minimising food wastage.
• Ensuring compliance with food safety, health and hygiene regulations.
• Supervising kitchen operations and coordinating food preparation activities.
• Training and mentoring kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and workplace procedures.
• Ensuring efficient kitchen workflow during peak service periods.
• Monitoring kitchen equipment and arranging maintenance when required.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
• Catering for dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options where required.
• Ensuring consistent quality and timely service of all meals.

Qualification & experience

• Certificate IV in Kitchen Management, Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, or equivalent qualification.
• At least one years of relevant full-time work experience as a Chef (or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience).
• Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and commercial kitchen operations.
• Sound understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work weekends, public holidays and flexible shifts as required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
