Chef

The Chef is responsible for preparing and producing Peko Peko products to company standards while following all food safety and operational procedures. The role requires a hands-on approach, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Task & responsibilities

• Prepare and cook Japanese and Asian cuisine according to company recipes and standards
• Handle and prepare food in a safe and hygienic manner
• Prepare sushi rice, signature dishes, sauces and food products
• Monitor food quality, portion control and presentation
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen
• Follow food safety, hygiene and WHS procedures
• Assist with stock rotation, ordering and stock control
• Receive and check deliveries from suppliers
• Minimise food wastage and record stock usage
• Support and assist kitchen team members during service
• Contribute to menu and product development
• Ensure all kitchen operations are carried out efficiently and professionally

Qualification & experience

• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification)
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen
• Experience in Japanese cuisine preferred
• Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
