La Cafeteria Pty Ltd t/a Casa Brasil, located in Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast QLD, is seeking a qualified Chef to join our team on a full-time basis.

Casa Brasil is a busy Brazilian restaurant specialising in authentic Brazilian cuisine and charcoal-style cooking. The successful applicant will work within a fast-paced kitchen environment and contribute to maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and customer service.

The position is full-time (38 hours per week) with an annual salary of $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 plus superannuation, depending on skills and experience.

Task & responsibilities

Planning menus, keeping in mind budget and the availability of seasonal ingredients
Estimating food costs, monitoring and recording food waste
Monitoring stock levels and placing orders to replenish stock as necessary
Preparing relevant ingredients and menu items and creating typical Brazilian dishes
Monitoring the quality of dishes throughout all stages of preparation, cooking and presentation
Cooking and serving dishes with a high attention to detail
Advising on cooking procedures
Explaining and enforcing Health and Safety Regulations and ensuring a high level of cleanliness is maintained within the kitchen and workplace
Correctly handling and storing food
Communicating information regarding food preparation with Management, kitchen and waiting staff
Assisting with training other kitchen staff on existing and new procedures
Coordinating kitchen staff and assisting as required
Receiving feedback and making improvements where necessary
Creating new recipes to keep the menu fresh and exciting

Qualification & experience

Relevant Diploma qualification or equivalent
Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience in the same or a similar role
Ability to work a flexible roster including nights, weekends and public holidays
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Strong organisational and communication skills
Positive attitude and ability to work within a team environment
Knowledge of Brazilian cuisine and charcoal cooking techniques will be highly regarded
