About the Role

The Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of meals while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene, and safety. The successful candidate will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure efficient kitchen operations and excellent customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, season and cook a variety of food items in accordance with menu specifications and customer requirements.
  • Assist in planning menus and estimating food requirements.
  • Monitor food quality at all stages of preparation, cooking and presentation.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented consistently to established standards.
  • Store food appropriately and maintain stock rotation procedures.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering food supplies and kitchen consumables.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen work areas, equipment and storage facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, sanitation and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Assist in controlling food costs, minimising wastage and maintaining portion control.
  • Collaborate with chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service periods.
  • Receive, inspect and store deliveries to ensure quality and freshness of ingredients.
  • Demonstrated experience in operating and managing a woodfired pizza oven, including preparing, stretching, and cooking traditional woodfired pizzas while maintaining consistent quality, cooking temperatures, and food safety standards.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience as a Cook.
  • Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods and kitchen operations.
  • Previous experience working with a woodfired pizza oven is essential.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality food.
