We are looking for a passionate, qualified, experienced, professional Chef at Mondo Di Pasta (Balaclava) for our daily operations. The position is full-time. You may be required to work different/extra hours depending on functions or bookings, as the restaurant opens 7 days a week.

Key Duties & Responsibilities Mondo Di Pasta (Balaclava)

  • Managing the overall kitchen operations at Mondo Di Pasta and ensuring smooth daily food preparation and service.
  • Preparing and cooking authentic Italian dishes from the Mondo Di Pasta menu including pasta, risotto, sauces, and specialty meals.
  • Inspecting raw food ingredients used at Mondo Di Pasta to ensure freshness, quality, and suitability for preparation.
  • Planning menus, estimating food requirements, and managing kitchen supplies for efficient operations at Mondo Di Pasta.
  • Supervising and training kitchen staff including cooks, kitchen hands, and junior staff members at Mondo Di Pasta.
  • Preparing meats, vegetables, sauces, and other ingredients using appropriate cutting, seasoning, marinating, and cooking techniques.
  • Monitoring food preparation and presentation standards to maintain the quality and reputation of Mondo Di Pasta.
  • Managing food costs, portion control, stock rotation, and minimising food wastage within the kitchen operations.
  • Operating and monitoring kitchen equipment including ovens, stoves, grills, fridges, and freezers to ensure safe and efficient usage.
  • Assisting management of Mondo Di Pasta with menu improvements, productivity, and customer satisfaction initiatives.
  • Preparing meals to accommodate customer dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, and special dietary requests.
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and Occupational Health & Safety standards at all times.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of all kitchen workstations, storage areas, and food preparation areas.
  • Working collaboratively with waitstaff and management at Mondo Di Pasta to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Taking customer feedback into consideration to continuously improve food quality, presentation, and overall dining experience.

About You

To be considered for this role, you should possess:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience (2–3 years preferred).
  • Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery.
  • Strong knowledge of Italian cuisine and kitchen operations.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible attitude towards working hours including weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining quality and consistency.

Salary

Salary between $72,000 – $85,000 Plus Superannuation will be offered based on skills and experience.
