Salary: $77,000 to $80,000 per annum plus superannuation

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Chef to join our kitchen team. Reporting to the Executive Chef, the successful applicant will support the delivery of high-quality cuisine in a fast-paced hospitality environment and contribute to the efficient operation of the kitchen while maintaining high culinary standards.

Task & responsibilities

  • Plan menus in collaboration with senior kitchen staff
  • Estimate food and labour costs and assist with ordering supplies
  • Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • Prepare, cook, and present high-quality food
  • Maintain consistency in food quality and portion control
  • Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff
  • Train staff by demonstrating cooking techniques and advising on procedures
  • Work effectively under pressure during busy service periods
  • Manage time efficiently to meet service demands
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and professional workspace
  • Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and cleaning procedures
  • Identify and resolve operational issues in consultation with senior kitchen staff

Qualification & experience

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Commercial Cookery (or a related culinary field), together with at least one year of relevant experience as a Chef;

OR

  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience as a Chef in lieu of formal qualifications

The successful applicant will also demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of menu development, food cost control, and kitchen operations
  • Proven ability to supervise and train junior kitchen staff
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for kitchen operations during service
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
