Task & responsibilities

The tasks and responsibilities include the following:

Preparing and cooking menu items to order
Preparing raw ingredients for cooking, preparing gravies, sauces and garnishes for service
Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality and freshness
Managing and monitoring the fridges and food storage to ensure quality and temperature requirements are met incl. ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
Preparing meals tailored to specific dietary needs, adapt meals at the request of customers
May assist in menu planning and training of kitchen staff
Involved in reviewing stock levels, reordering of supplies in a timely manner, and maintain accurate inventory records
Ensure smooth execution of opening and closing procedures for daily operational efficiency and safety and report to the head chef

Qualification & experience

The ideal candidate for this position should satisfy the following:

Formal qualifications in commercial cookery (Certificate III or higher)
At least 12 months work experience as a Cook (Indian cuisine experience preferable)
Flexibility and willingness to work shifts, especially during weekends and public holidays
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
In-depth knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients and kitchen operations
