Chef (Full-Time)

About the Role

The Chef will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals for restaurant customers, motel guests and visitors, while supporting menu planning, food quality control, stock management and food safety compliance. The role requires someone who can work efficiently in a regional motel restaurant environment and help deliver high-quality meals across restaurant dining, guest service and takeaway operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Planning menus and estimating food and labour costs;
• Assisting with ordering food supplies and managing stock levels;
• Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation;
• Preparing and cooking meals for restaurant service, motel guests, room service and takeaway orders;
• Preparing dishes in accordance with menu requirements, customer preferences and special dietary needs;
• Ensuring meals are presented to a high standard;
• Discussing food preparation and service requirements with management, kitchen staff and waiting staff;
• Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising kitchen staff on cooking procedures;
• Maintaining food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness standards;
• Ensuring proper storage, rotation and handling of food items;
• Minimising food wastage and supporting cost control within the kitchen;
• Assisting with the training and supervision of kitchen staff where required.

Skills and Experience Required

The successful applicant must have:

• At least 1 year of relevant experience as a Chef or in a similar commercial kitchen role;
• Experience preparing meals in a restaurant, hotel, motel or hospitality environment;
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen compliance requirements;
• Ability to prepare and cook a variety of dishes in a busy kitchen;
• Good time management and organisational skills;
• Ability to work under pressure during peak service periods;
• Strong teamwork and communication skills;
• Commitment to maintaining consistent food quality and presentation.
