$80,000 - $82,000 Annual

Cafe Mosman is currently looking for a Full Time Chef to join our team.  We are a cosy cafe located in Mosman NSW, with 7 x day trading operation including a full breakfast and lunch menu.  We have a seating capacity of 74 guests through our indoor and outdoor venue.

You will oversee all matters involving the kitchen, including:

  • Manage all daily operations of a commercial kitchen
  • Oversee all kitchen employees; including advertising, selecting, training and supervising kitchen staff
  • Prepare and cook food
  • Regularly order and maintain adequate food supplies
  • Organise orders of bulk food buying and make provisions for weekly and daily supply of fresh food
  • Regulate temperature of the oven, grill, fryer and other cooking equipment
  • Prepare food to meet special dietary requirements
  • To keep kitchen area clean at all times e.g. cupboards, doors, bench tops etc.
  • Ensure hygienic handling and correct storage of food and drink, at all times
  • Plan menu within the allocated budget whilst maintaining quality of dishes
  • Maintain food and labour costs through appropriate stock control, rostering of kitchen team and kitchen operations. 
  • To develop and maintain positive relationships with staff and customers

You will work closely with the Cafe Manager to ensure the venue is running at the highest standard of service and efficiency whilst maintaining an excellent reputation.  A keenness for menu creation, excellent control over costs and team building abilities are the largest assets to your application.

About you:

  • Qualified with an appropriate level of experience as a Chef – minimum Advanced Diploma or Diploma of Hospitality with Cert IV in Commercial Cookery
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Willing to work with & teach other chefs/ cooks as part of a team environment
  • A genuine passion for cooking and pride in your work
  • Appreciate quality and pay close attention to detail
  • You must be a positive force within the kitchen and great influence on the team
  • Sound understanding of ordering, suppliers, rosters and cost control

Position salary is $80,000-$82,000 per annum plus superannuation.
