Salary Range: $73,000 - $83,000 + Superannuation

We are seeking an experienced, passionate Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will play a vital role in menu preparation, day-to-day kitchen operations and maintaining food quality standards

Task & responsibilities

  • Running the LOX kitchen including preparing and cooking food, planning menus, monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • Training and supervision of all kitchen staff.
  • Food costs, wastage and wage %’s will be calculated and analysed with the owners to achieve agreed targets.
  • Daily update regarding issues arising from food service or prep relating to customers or staff.
  • Responsible for working out food costs and profit margins for each dish on the menu.
  • Communicating with the floor staff and floor manager with regards to food knowledge and effective kitchen operation
  • Logging daily kitchen/menu communication in diary.
  • Responsible for having a back up staff member on call at all times for all shifts.
  • Roster for all casual and full time kitchen staff, inc chefs & kitchen hands.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with all suppliers and providores and constantly ensuring that we are getting the most competitive pricing.  
  • Ensuring that LOX recipes and ordering systems are well documented and adhered to.
  • Creative input to make best use of seasonal variations of produce and introducing regular team meetings to allow for creative input.
  • Working with (Exec Chef) Neil Gottheiner with regards to menu requirements.
  • Occasional industry representation and community involvement as a representative of LOX in addition to on the job requirements.


Qualification & experience

  • Has relevant work experience as a Chef
  • Relevant Qualifications desirable 
  • Knowledge of OHS requirements and maintaining the kitchen and equipment in a safe and hygienic state.
  • Knowledge of safe food handling requirements and their effective implementation

Lox Stock is a NY style deli-diner located in Bondi in a well known ‘local’ strip, 2 blocks away from the beach. Free parking within 5 minute walk of the restaurant and a bus-stop on the next corner.

The focus is all about great food, wine and buzzy, friendly service. The menu is creative, interesting and seasonal using the best ingredients, locally sourced. Open 7 days per week from 7am - 2.30pm for Breakfast & Lunch and Wednesday to Saturday evenings from 6pm for dinner.
