Task & responsibilities

A successful candidate will be required to perform the following tasks:

• Being responsible for foodstuffs check to ensure the quality and freshness of the ingredients used.
• Processing and portioning ingredients according to established recipes and food safety standards.
• Preparing, seasoning and cooking a variety of traditional Malaysian dishes and a selection of appetizers and snacks.
• Plating meals with appropriate sauces, garnishes, side dishes before serving.
• Preparing and cooking dishes to accommodate customer dietary request and special requirements where required (e.g., vegetarian dishes).
• Following restaurant procedures and recipes accurately to contribute to daily kitchen operations.
• Operating and monitoring kitchen equipment including wok burners, ovens, fryer, steamer, and noodle cooking station to ensure food is cooked correctly.
• Preparing and cooking soups, curry bases, sauces, marinades, and seasoning mixes according to restaurant's recipes and flavour standards.
• Assisting in inventory management by monitoring stock levels, conducting regular stock rotations, minimising food wastage and reporting any shortages or discrepancies to the restaurant manager.
• Receiving and storing meat, poultry, seafood and other fresh produce in temperature-controlled refrigerated or frozen facilities. Rotating fresh produce as required.
• Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen in compliance with food safety and sanitation requirements.
• Working collaboratively with other staff members including kitchen hands and service staff to ensure efficient operations and timely food service.
• Training kitchen hands and other junior kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations.

Qualification & experience

To be successful for this role, you must have the following:

• A relevant Certificate IV or above and at least one year of relevant work experience.
• Highly professional cooking skills in Malaysian cuisine.
• Solid knowledge of food safety regulations.
• Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.

Salary: $76,600 - $80,000 per annum + superannuation
