We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef to manage kitchen operations at Lily's Pad Cafe and Take-Away. This is a full-time role for someone proactive and hands-on, with a strong background in culinary operations, motivating the team, and ensuring excellent food quality in a busy, fast-paced environment.

Task & responsibilities

  • Review each recipe carefully and ensure all required ingredients are prepared before cooking.
  • Prepare and cook meals on time while maintaining quality, presentation, and taste standards.
  • Allocate duties to kitchen staff and supervise their work to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Inform wait staff about daily specials and menu changes to support efficient customer service.
  • Ensure all dishes are well presented and served neatly and professionally.
  • Supervise and assist cooks when required, particularly during busy service periods.
  • Make minor recipe adjustments when necessary to accommodate customer preferences or dietary requirements.
  • Monitor food stock, manage inventory levels, and place orders to avoid shortages.
  • Check food items for freshness and quality, and remove any expired or unsuitable products.
  • Introduce new ideas, recipes, and ingredients to improve and refresh the menu.
  • Follow all health, safety, and cleanliness regulations to maintain high kitchen hygiene standards.

Qualification & experience

  • Proven experience working as a Chef or in a similar senior role within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to guide, train, and manage kitchen staff.
  • Sound understanding of food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and daily kitchen operations.
  • Creative mindset with strong attention to detail and a passion for preparing high-quality food.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure kitchen environment.
  • Flexible and adaptable to handle special events, seasonal menu changes, and varying customer requirements.
  • A culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred but not essential.
