Are you a skilled and experienced Restaurant Manager with a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences? Whalers Restaurant, located in the heart of Exmouth Escape Resort, is looking for a dedicated and dynamic manager to lead our team!

About Us: Whalers Restaurant is renowned for serving the finest local seafood, steaks, and fresh produce, offering a relaxed and family-friendly dining experience. Situated in Exmouth, the gateway to the World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef, our location is a nature lover’s paradise with pristine beaches, turquoise waters, and incredible marine life.

Position: Restaurant Manager

  • Type: Full Time
  • Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 annually + Superannuation
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, including weekends and evenings

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar managerial role in a fast-paced restaurant environment
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Proficiency in budgeting, financial management, and cost control
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a commitment to maintaining high standards
  • Ability to develop and implement effective policies and procedures
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Legal working rights in Australia

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing daily restaurant operations to ensure smooth service and high-quality standards
  • Leading, training, and motivating the restaurant team
  • Managing inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining stock levels
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Handling customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally
  • Collaborating with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service and menu development
  • Managing staff schedules and conducting performance reviews
  • Implementing strategies to enhance guest satisfaction and increase revenue

Task & responsibilities

Oversee daily restaurant operations and ensure smooth service

Lead, train, and motivate front of house staff

Manage staff rosters and labour costs

Deliver exceptional customer service and guest experiences

Handle customer feedback and resolve complaints professionally

Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and service

Ensure compliance with food safety and workplace health regulations

Monitor stock levels and manage ordering and inventory control

Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service

Assist with budgeting, cost control, and financial targets

Drive team performance and maintain a positive workplace culture

Support recruitment, onboarding, and staff development

Maintain restaurant systems, procedures, and operational standards

Contribute ideas to improve service, efficiency, and revenue

Ensure smooth opening and closing procedures daily


Qualification & experience

Minimum 2 years experience in a Restaurant Manager or similar leadership role

Previous experience in a fast-paced hospitality environment

Strong leadership and team management skills

Excellent communication and customer service abilities

Experience with rostering, stock control, and daily operations

Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations

Ability to manage budgets, labour costs, and financial reporting

Strong problem-solving and organisational skills

Ability to work under pressure and lead during busy service periods

Experience training and developing staff

Fluent written and spoken English

Current RSA certification preferred

Approved Manager certification preferred

Legal working rights in Australia

Experience in seafood, steakhouse, or tourism hospitality venues highly regarded
